Anita Ihuman is an open-source leader, developer advocate, and community strategist with over five years of experience driving impactful contributions across open-source, cloud-native technologies, and community ecosystems.
She currently leads the Code of Conduct team at the CHAOSS Project, where she also serves as a Governing Board member and maintainer. Anita is on the technical advisory board member at OpenUK, a member of the NumFOCUS DISC Committee, and proudly contributes to the DevNetwork Cloud Advisory Board—sharing insights that help shape the future of cloud technology.
Throughout her career, Anita has worked on a wide range of open-source projects, including Kyverno, Apache APISIX, mirrord, and SustainOSS, leading DevRel strategies, building and nurturing global communities, and fostering inclusive developer ecosystems. She is a platform engineer ambassador and cloud advocate passionate about promoting the growth and adoption of platform and cloud-native solutions across Africa, serving as an organizer for Kubernetes Community Days (KCD) Nigeria and the CNCF Abuja community group.
Additionally, Anita also mentors young girls through esteemed organizations such as AnitaB.org, WeTech, and SheCodeAfrica. Empowering the next generation of technologists, particularly women, is a mission close to my heart.
Outside of Open Source, Anita is a frontend developer with proficient skills and experience in React (Next.js, Gatsby), TypeScript, Node.js, Kubernetes, Docker, etc. Anita blogs about open source, DevOps, cloud computing best practices, DevRel, leadership in tech, and personal growth on The News Stack, Medium, Hashnode, & Dev.to.
She has done over 50 talks at industry events, including KubeCon, OSSEU, DevConf.cz, FOSSBackstage, and FOSDEM.

I am a member of the Board of Directors for this project, and I am one of the leaders of CHAOSS Africa is the largest chapter of the CHAOSS project. In this role, I help manage a community of roughly 600 members. I am also actively involved in the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Working Group and have been a driver of research in this space.

At MetalBear, I work as a founding Developer Advocate focused on driving awareness, adoption, and education around mirrord, our flagship open-source tool. I pioneered a comprehensive content creation program, producing high-impact educational resources and technical guides that help developers integrate mirrord into their cloud-native workflows. I also collaborated on product launches, marketing campaigns, and website improvements, helping drive a 50% increase in lead generation and securing mirrord’s spot as a top Product Hunt feature.

At Nirmata, I served as a Developer Advocate focused on growing and supporting the Kyverno user and contributor community. I created technical blog posts that explored real-world use cases and best practices for Kyverno. Together with marketing, I pioneered the development of the Kyverno certification program and helped track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the project’s growth and success.
